Responsibilities

• Instructs individuals and groups in special education skill areas.
• Plans curriculum, lessons, and programs and teaching methods.
• Evaluates student progress from papers, tests and observations.
• Monitors student progress inside and outside the special education room.
• Maintains the classroom environment and safety.
• Maintains contact with parents of students.
• Prepares report cards and education records including IEP forms.
• Completes electronic IEP documents as directed by the Director of Special Services.
• Assists in hiring, training and supervising paraprofessionals assigned to the program.

Certification Requirement: Comprehensive Special Education, Grades K-12 (165), Comprehensive Special Education, Pre-K-12 (065), or Comprehensive Special Education, 1-12 (265)

SUMMARY: Responsible for planning instruction and/or adaptation of the education program to enable students to benefit from educational experiences.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.

• Instructs individuals and groups in special education skill areas.
• Plans curriculum, lessons, and special education programs and teaching methods.
• Evaluates student progress based on papers submitted, test scores and observation.
• Monitors students' progress in and outside special education room.
• Maintains physical environment of the classroom.
• Maintains contact with parents of students.
• Evaluates student progress based on work output and observation, determines goals, objectives and directions.
• Prepares report cards, educational records, IEP forms, classroom observation records, and other forms.
• Completes electronic IEP documents as directed by the Director of Special Services.
• Assists in the hiring, training and supervision of paraprofessionals assigned to their program.
