Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Elementary School Principal, the 6th Grade Long-Term Substitute will work with students to achieve excellence in 6th grade mathematics for approximately 12 weeks while covering a maternity leave. The position will start around the beginning of October and conclude approximately 12 weeks later, with exact start and end dates to be confirmed closer to the leave.

Qualifications Required:
  • A. Minimum of BS/BA degree in Elementary Education (emphasis in Mathematics preferred)
  • B. Possess or be eligible for a valid Michigan teaching certificate
  • C. Highly Qualified by NCLB Standards
  • D. Able to assess and document student progress
  • E. Professional in personal conduct and actions
  • F. Strong organizational, classroom management, collaboration, and communication skills
  • G. Demonstrated competence in the use of technology

  • Q. Other duties as assigned by administration
Physical Requirement & Work Environment

This position is primarily performed in an elementary school setting. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods during the workday
  • Occasionally lift and carry supplies or deliveries weighing up to 25 lbs
  • Regularly operate office equipment, including computers, copiers, phones, etc.
