Job summary

Wayne County Schools Employment Network is seeking a Long Term Substitute for 8th Grade ELA at Shumate Middle School. The assignment runs September 2026 through November 2026 (about 8 weeks) with a current wage of $150 per day for long-term assignments, reporting to the Building Principal.

Applicants should have 60+ college credits and, ideally, a Michigan teaching certificate. Previous teaching or guest teaching experience is preferred, and the candidate should plan and deliver high-quality

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, implement and document high quality instruction, assessments, and interventions to meet the needs of all students.
• Honor and carry out district initiatives and curriculum.
• Communicate regularly and effectively with parents, colleagues, and administration.
• Participate in a Professional Learning Community setting by collaborating regularly with team of teachers, special area teachers, and special education teachers.
• Integrate technology effectively in a variety of forms on a daily basis as appropriate.
• Maintain consistent attendance and report to work on time as expected.
• Attend all meetings required for this position.
• Complete assigned tasks, reports, and other requirements on time.
