Bath Community Schools is seeking a long-term substitute teacher for a fifth grade classroom at Bath Elementary School. The long-term substitute assumes full instructional and classroom responsibility for the assignment, delivering the district's fifth grade curriculum in English language arts, science, and social studies, and maintaining the classroom routines, records, and family communication of the regular teaching assignment.
The long-term substitute works with the fifth grade team, as well as the school’s intervention team to ensure effective instruction. Initial lesson plans and pacing will be provided; the substitute assumes planning responsibility as the assignment progresses.
The long-term substitute is supervised by the building principal.
Provides day-to-day direction to any paraprofessional assigned to the classroom. Has no authority over employment decisions.

Work is performed in an elementary classroom and throughout school facilities, including the cafeteria, gymnasium, and outdoors during recess and arrival and dismissal duty, in varying weather.
The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and move about the classroom for extended periods; sit at student-height furniture and rise unassisted; bend, stoop, kneel, and reach; and occasionally lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds, such as instructional materials and supply bins. The employee must have vision and hearing sufficient to supervise a group of students across a classroom, gymnasium, or playground and to recognize signs of distress or unsafe behavior. The employee uses a computer and district instructional technology for extended periods.
