Job summary

St. Anthony-New Brighton School District in Minnesota seeks a Long-Term Substitute High School Special Education teacher (DCD license preferred).

This role involves developing lessons, delivering district curriculum, and evaluating student progress under the direction of the principal and SPED administration. The position requires MN licensure in SPED or related area, experience in urban/multicultural settings, and collaboration with staff to support the whole child.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in Education or relevant instructional subject area.
• Licensed teachers in the State of MN with appropriate licensure for assigned areas of responsibility or proof of pending approved licensure.
• Developmentally Cognitively Delayed (DCD) license preferred.
• Preference for Teacher Coordinator of Work-Based Learning license.
• Prior successful experience student teaching or teaching in an urban, multicultural education setting.

Responsibilities

• Instructional planning: Develop unit plans and lesson plans using district resources.
• Classroom instruction: Provide instruction at appropriate levels per standards; adjust plans as needed.
• Student evaluation: Develop and grade assessments; analyze data for decisions; conduct conferences.
• Classroom management: Use tiered supports and gather behavior data; supervise paraeducators.
• Collaborate with general education teachers and other staff to meet student needs.
• Communication: Share progress with families; participate in Open House and conferences.
• Due Process: Meet legal requirements for Special Education Due Process.
• Professional development: Stay updated on trends and best practices; participate in staff development.
• Work-Based Learning and Transition: Address transition needs for high school students.

Education
