Job summary

Norwood Public Schools is seeking a Long Term Substitute Special Education Inclusion Teacher at Charles J Prescott Elementary School in Norwood, MA. The role starts January 14, 2026 and offers daily pay between $301 and $331.

The position focuses on developing IEPs, delivering direct instruction, and coordinating with general education staff to meet students’ needs. The ideal candidate holds MA Special Education licensure and preferably a Master’s degree.

Qualifications

• MA Dept. Education approved Special Education licensure is required.
• Recent successful experience in an educational setting.
• Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills, both oral and written.

Responsibilities

• Assist administrators, teachers and staff in developing IEPs and provide direct instruction to students with disabilities using self-management strategies.
• Select teaching strategies for implementing IEP goals and objectives for assigned students.
• Maintain continuous performance data on student IEP objectives and document progress on IEP forms.
• Provide academic support to students with emotional/behavioral needs.
• Coordinate specialized instruction with regular education curriculum as appropriate.
• Responsible for conducting functional behavior assessments.
• Develop behavior plans and revise consistency.
• Train and supervise instructional aides and volunteers as required.
• Prepare and apply current special education practices and theories.
• Work cooperatively with staff to implement, train and monitor specialized behavior plans with appropriate students.
• Develop curriculum and programs to reflect current abilities of students’ specialized needs.
• Access available resources, personnel, literature, research and in-service.
• Complete all required reports and records in an accurate and timely manner.
• Work effectively with multidisciplinary team and other professionals regarding needs of special students for assuring appropriate learning experiences.
• Work closely with clinical staff to develop a therapeutic learning environment.
• Communicate appropriately and effectively with parents, staff and students.
• Inform Building Principal/staff on progress of assigned students.
• Maintain a data system to accurately record student information.
• Conduct appropriate assessments to determine program eligibility and services.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
