Job summary

Robbinsdale Area Schools is seeking a Long-Term Substitute Education Assistant for Special Education in the RISE program at Cooper High School. The anticipated dates are Aug 31, 2026 through Nov 12, 2026.

The role is seven hours per day, including 6.5 hours of paid work time and 30 minutes unpaid lunch. The hourly rate is $22.54 on the casual salary schedule, with no benefits eligibility.

Qualifications

• Two years of college credits (MN 60 credits) or an associate's or higher degree, or a passing ParaPro/Paraeducator assessment.
• Experience working with students who have cognitive/physical disabilities and behavior challenges preferred.
• Word processing, filing and computer familiarity.
• Patient, calm and understanding demeanor when working with students.
• Respect for confidentiality and regular, timely attendance.

Responsibilities

• Assists in supervising and instructing students with disabilities.
• Provides clerical and organizational support to special education teachers.
• Works with individuals and/or small groups as activities are presented by teachers.
• Provides support for students in crisis.
• Willingness to lift, carry and physically manage as necessary.
• Performs other duties as assigned by teacher or principal.
