Job summary

Poudre School District is seeking a long-term classified substitute Paraprofessional II at Bauder Elementary School in Fort Collins, CO. The role provides instructional and physical support to students with significant needs, helping them access the general education curriculum and participate in class activities.

The position involves personal care, behavior support, and collaboration with teachers, nursing staff, and other professionals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of related experience.
• Experience working with special needs students preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable.
• CPI training within 3 months of hire.
• Criminal background check required for hire.
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers by implementing instruction and adapting materials for students with significant support needs.
• Implement behavior intervention strategies and support student emotional regulation.
• Monitor students across classrooms, hallways, and during transitions and enforce safety procedures.
• Provide hygiene, feeding, mobility support per health plans and collaborate with nursing staff.
• Use assistive technology and AAC devices to aid communication.
• Maintain detailed records on student behavior, interventions, and progress; input data for IEP meetings.
• Collaborate with teachers, mental health providers, and case managers to implement IEP goals and crisis plans.
• Support development of self-regulation, social interaction, and daily living skills.
• Attend specialized training and participate in staff meetings to enhance job skills.
• Adjust to student needs and assist across settings including general and special education.
• Support school-wide safety protocols and emergency response.
