Qualifications

• One year of college required; two years of college preferred.
• Physical condition to manage behavior and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Interest in and exposure to students with disabilities.
• Basic understanding of child growth and development.
• Alternatives to qualifications may be acceptable as determined by administration.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate ethical behavior and maintain confidentiality of student information.
• Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning.
• Implement student behavior plans.
• Monitor health concerns and assist in collaboration with teacher and nurse.
• Assist with toileting/personal care when necessary.
• Assist with collecting, maintaining, and organizing data and portfolios.
• Assist student organization of desk, homework, and materials.
• Assist special education teacher with implementation of student academic plans.
• Consult daily with teachers and other service providers when applicable.
• Facilitate student social interaction and inclusion in the general education setting as per IEP.
