Job summary

Newton Public Schools — Bowen Elementary School in Newton, MA — is seeking a Building Aide (Long Term Substitute) to provide instructional coverage and building-wide support for 12 weeks. The role reports to the High School Principal/Vice Principal and starts immediately.

The position requires an Associate’s degree or 60 college credits, with ParaPro or equivalent acceptable. Strong communication and technical skills are essential to support staff, students and families.

Qualifications

Requires strong written language, technology, and interpersonal communication to support collaboration among team members, families, and staff.

Responsibilities

Provide instructional coverage for a classroom, small group, or individual student.
Assist the classroom teacher in all aspects of the school day.
Support instruction by working with students individually and in small groups.
Prepare instructional materials.
Assist in classroom setup and cleanup.
Maintain consistent and on-time attendance for supervision and instruction.
Manage individual and classroom behavior.
Supervise students with self-care needs.
Assist in the main office (monitoring doors, answering phones, attendance, etc.).
Provide substitute educator services when needed.
