Job summary
Chester County Intermediate Unit seeks a Long-term Substitute Itinerant Hearing Support Teacher to serve deaf or hard of hearing students from birth through age 21 across preschool to school-age programs. The temporary assignment begins January 2026 and extends through April 2026, with possible extension.
Responsibilities include planning educational programs and collaborating with district staff to implement effective accommodations.
Qualifications
- Valid PA Certification as Teacher of Deaf/Hearing Impaired required.
- Master's degree preferred.
- Dual certification in Deaf & Hard of Hearing and Special Education preferred.
- Must obtain required clearances (criminal history, child abuse, FBI fingerprint, MA provider).
Responsibilities
- Provide hearing support to deaf/hearing impaired students referred by districts and early education programs.
- Plan and/or adapt educational programs enabling deaf/hearing impaired students to benefit from education.
- Assess and teach deaf/hearing impaired students; develop IEPs; support technology and accommodations; consult with teachers.
