Qualifications

• Valid Virginia teaching license with an endorsement in teaching the hearing impaired.
• CAID certification (Conference on American Instructors of the Deaf) required.
• Competency in administering and interpreting hearing tests and related assessments.

Responsibilities

• Implement screening and referral procedures to identify students needing hearing evaluations.
• Review medical/audiological information and share updates with parents, teachers, and staff.
• Obtain diagnostic information through formal testing.
• Collaborate with staff and families to determine educational needs under IEPs.
• Teach students who are hearing, deaf, and hard-of-hearing and plan instruction per IEPs.
• Develop long-range goals and short-term objectives for students' IEPs.
• Record progress and data per IEPs and monitoring procedures.
