Job summary

Blackstone Valley Prep is seeking a Long Term Substitute Elementary Teacher for an immediate opening at our Cumberland, RI campus. A bachelor’s degree and Rhode Island teaching certification by hire date are required; reciprocity with many states is noted.

Experience in diverse public schools is preferred. The role entails creating inclusive classrooms, differentiating instruction, and upholding district policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Rhode Island teacher certification by date of hire; RI reciprocity with 30+ states.

Responsibilities

• Create an environment of respect and rapport.
• Collaborate with co-teachers to provide differentiated instruction.
• Establish a culture of learning reflecting the importance of the work.
• Establish and monitor routines and procedures for smooth classroom operation.
• Model precise language to communicate expectations and directions.
• Ask questions and engage scholars to promote higher thinking and metacognition.
• Engage all scholars with well-designed tasks requiring complex thinking, with scaffolding.
