Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree is required.
• Successful applicants must hold and provide evidence of an appropriate Rhode Island teacher certification by their date of hire.
• A minimum of two years teaching experience in a diverse public school setting preferred, but not required.
• Proficiency or awareness in Science of Reading and Structured Literacy as required.
• Rhode Island offers reciprocity with over 30 states across the country.

Responsibilities

• Create an environment of respect and rapport.
• Collaborate with co-teachers to provide differentiated instruction to scholars based on scholar need.
• Establish a culture of learning reflecting the importance of the work undertaken by scholars and teachers.
• Establish and monitor routines for smooth classroom operation, efficient use of time and engagement with learning.
• Model precise and expressive language to communicate expectations, directions and content.
• Use questions and discussions to challenge scholars and promote higher-order thinking.
• Engage scholars in well-designed learning tasks requiring complex thinking with appropriate scaffolding.
• Utilize formative and summative assessments to drive instructional planning and monitor learning.
