Job summary

Greenville County is seeking a Long-Range Planner II to lead community, neighborhood, and area planning projects as project manager and lead author for assigned plans.

You will engage residents, stakeholders, elected officials, and County staff; researching demographics, land use, and growth conditions; preparing reports, maps, and presentations; developing goals, objectives, and land use strategies; and presenting plans to the Planning Commission and County Council.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in urban or regional planning or related field.
• Three years of professional experience in community, comprehensive, land use, or corridor planning.
• Lead author or project manager on at least one plan or public deliverable.
• Proficient in ArcGIS Pro for spatial analysis and map production.
• Ability to present findings to non-technical audiences and manage public engagements.
• Valid Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Lead community, neighborhood, and area planning projects as project manager and lead author.
• Engage residents, stakeholders, elected officials, and County staff; research demographics, land use, and growth conditions.
• Prepare reports, maps, and presentations; develop goals, objectives, and land use strategies; present plans to Planning Commission and County Council.
• Design and facilitate public engagement including meetings, workshops, and charrettes; translate recommendations into zoning overlays and regulatory amendments.
• Support the 10-year update and 5-year review of the County Comprehensive Plan; perform spatial analysis using ArcGIS Pro.
• Coordinate with County departments, municipalities, and partner agencies; availability for evening meetings and occasional weekend events.
