Job summary

Cumberland County’s Planning & Inspections Department seeks a Planner II to support thoughtful growth across the County and participating municipalities. You will provide professional planning services, advance comprehensive plans, and collaborate with local governments, agencies, and the public to shape our communities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in urban or regional planning or related field with two years of planning experience
• AICP certification preferred
• Knowledge of zoning, land-use, and related ordinances and codes
• GIS/mapping experience preferred and considered an asset to planning work

Responsibilities

• Perform professional planning projects related to development, implementation, and maintenance of comprehensive plans and long-range initiatives
• Research planning issues, analyze data, and develop recommendations, reports, and policies
• Coordinate planning projects and ensure work is completed on time
• Develop and update maps, land-use plans, charts, and visuals using GIS
• Analyze data and present findings clearly to staff, boards, and the public
• Review projects for consistency with adopted plans and policies
• Provide planning assistance to municipalities and local entities with research and materials
• Prepare and deliver presentations on planning projects to staff, boards, and the public
• Respond to inquiries regarding planning processes, policies, and regulations
• Assist with planning studies and research in coordination with Senior Planner or Planning Manager
