Job summary

Sappi North America in Portland, ME seeks a Summer Logistics Intern to support coordination of finished goods from production facilities to customers and distribution centers. Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Business Studies.
• Strong quantitative and analytical abilities; familiarity with logistics concepts.
• Ability to work independently with attention to detail.
• Solid MS Office skills and basic knowledge of logistics software.
• Effective communication across departments.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates logistics activities via ocean, air, rail, intermodal and truck with multiple carriers.
• Monitors shipments from booking through delivery and provides problem resolution.
• Investigates problems, finds root causes, and develops solutions.
• Assesses current logistics processes and coordinates improvements.
• Provides analytical support for projects and proposals.
• Creates data reports and publishes performance metrics.
• Ensures transport capacity for facilities and distribution centers.
• Monitors carrier contract compliance.
• Develops SOPs and performance standards.
• Coordinates with Inside Sales and Outside Sales on logistics issues.
• Evaluates providers and mill shipping performance.
• Create and publish reports on logistics performance.
