Mallard Creek Polymers is seeking a qualified Logistics Supervisor to join our team.
Who you are:
The Logistics Supervisor is responsible for leading day-to-day distribution center and transportation operations to ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective movement of materials and finished goods. This working supervisor provides direct leadership to distribution center employees, logistics coordinators, and over-the-road (OTR) drivers while remaining actively involved in logistics execution and problem resolution.
Leadership and Team Management
- Provide direct supervision, coaching, training, and development for logistics coordinators, distribution center personnel, and OTR drivers.
- Establish daily priorities, assign work, and adjust resources to meet operational requirements.
- Monitor employee performance and reinforce accountability, safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, performance discussions, and corrective action processes as required.
- Develop work schedules and staffing plans that support business needs.
Distribution Center Operations
- Supervise daily warehouse and distribution center activities.
- Ensure accurate receiving, storage, inventory handling, picking, staging, and shipping of products.
- Support inventory accuracy through cycle counts, transaction discipline, and process controls.
- Monitor warehouse productivity and identify opportunities to improve workflow and resource utilization.
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures, equipment requirements, and housekeeping standards.
- Coordinate the movement of finished goods between manufacturing and distribution operations.
Transportation and Fleet Operations
- Oversee the scheduling and execution of outbound and inbound shipments.
- Manage the daily utilization of company-owned transportation assets and assigned drivers.
- Coordinate carrier assignments, load planning, routing, and delivery schedules.
- Monitor freight cost, service performance, fleet utilization, and transportation metrics.
- Assist with driver qualification records, compliance documentation, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Investigate transportation service failures and implement corrective actions.
Logistics Coordination and Customer Service Support
- Partner with Customer Service, Planning, and Production to support timely fulfillment of customer orders.
- Perform CSR function for export customers
- Support shipment scheduling and resolve transportation and delivery issues.
- Communicate delays, capacity constraints, and logistics risks to appropriate stakeholders.
- Monitor open shipments and follow through on delivery performance issues.
Technology and API Implementation
- Serve as a key logistics representative during implementation of transportation software and API integration projects.
- Assist with process mapping, system testing, data validation, user acceptance testing, and issue identification.
- Support the implementation of automated load tendering and related transportation management technology.
- Document workflows and develop standard operating procedures and work instructions for new processes.
- Train employees and support adoption of new logistics technology.
- Collaborate with internal teams and software providers to resolve implementation issues and improve system performance
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve transportation efficiency, warehouse productivity, service, and cost performance.
- Develop and maintain logistics procedures, work instructions, and process controls.
- Use operational metrics to identify gaps and drive corrective and preventive actions.
- Support cost-reduction projects while maintaining service, quality, and safety expectations.
- Participate in continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives.

What We Need
The position oversees warehouse and transportation activity, coordinates outbound shipments, supports fleet utilization, and helps maintain compliance with company, safety, and applicable transportation requirements. The Logistics Supervisor works closely with Logistics, Planning, Production, Customer Service, and external transportation providers to support service expectations.
This role also supports the implementation and ongoing use of transportation technology, including API-based load tendering and logistics automation intended to improve efficiency, accuracy, and transportation visibility.
Skills and Qualifications
Required
- Associate degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
- Minimum of five years of experience in logistics, transportation, warehousing, distribution, or supply chain operations.
- Minimum of two years of supervisory, lead, or people-management experience.
- Experience supporting warehouse operations and/or transportation activities.
- Working knowledge of transportation compliance, driver management, and applicable DOT requirements.
- Experience using ERP, WMS, TMS, or similar supply chain systems.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.
Preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related discipline.
- Manufacturing or chemical industry experience.
- Experience supervising private fleet operations and OTR drivers.
- Experience supporting software implementations, API integrations, transportation systems, or logistics automation.
- Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement experience.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and reporting capabilities.

- Hours: Monday - Friday starting at 8:00 am to 5 pm
- Travel: Minimal (possibly to other company locations located within the Charlotte area)
