Job summary

The Logistics Specialist position supports a client’s international and domestic logistics operations from New Jersey. You will coordinate shipments, manage carrier relationships, handle import/export documentation, and maintain accurate records in a fast‑paced environment.

This hands‑on role requires 2+ years in global logistics, strong communication skills, and proficiency with Microsoft 365. A degree in a related field or equivalent experience is preferred, with ERP and inventory systems

Responsibilities

• Coordinate international and domestic shipments from origin through final delivery.
• Manage ocean, air, and other transportation arrangements based on shipment requirements.
• Coordinate with suppliers and logistics partners to ensure inventory is received accurately and on schedule.
• Assist with inventory control, shipment preparation, and outbound distribution activities.
• Prepare, review, and maintain import/export documentation, including invoices,Packing lists, bills of lading, and dangerous goods docs.
• Communicate with freight forwarders, carriers, customs brokers, warehouses, and third‑party logistics providers.
• Monitor shipment progress and identify delays or issues.
• Provide updates on shipment status and delivery dates.
• Coordinate delivery appointments and confirm receipt of goods.
• Investigate and resolve missing, delayed, damaged, or inaccurate shipments.
• Maintain accurate logistics, shipment, and inventory records.
• Support customs clearance and FDA import requirements.

Client Overview:

Our client is an established and growing organization with an international supply chain and distribution operation. The company works with suppliers, logistics providers, warehouses, and customers across multiple markets and is seeking a hands‑on Logistics Specialist to support the movement of goods from international origin through final delivery.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$65k - $80k

Position Overview:

The Logistics Specialist will oversee day‑to‑day domestic and international logistics activities, including shipment coordination, inventory movement, import documentation, delivery scheduling, and communication with external logistics partners. The Logistics Specialist will work closely with suppliers, freight forwarders, carriers, customs brokers, warehouse partners, and internal teams to ensure shipments arrive accurately and on schedule. This is a hands‑on opportunity for a Logistics Specialist who is organized, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple shipments and priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

• Coordinate delivery appointments and confirm successful receipt of goods.
• Investigate and resolve issues involving missing, delayed, damaged, or inaccurate shipments.
• Maintain accurate logistics, shipment, and inventory records.
• Support customs clearance activities and ensure required import documentation is completed accurately.
• Assist with FDA‑related import requirements and compliance procedures.
• Partner with internal departments to resolve logistics issues and maintain smooth product flow.
• Communicate regularly with management regarding logistics activity, performance, and open issues.
• Identify opportunities to improve shipping processes, procedures, and overall logistics efficiency.

Required Experience/Skills for the Logistics Specialist:

• 2+ years of international logistics experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365, particularly Outlook, Excel, and Teams.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Logistics Specialist:

• Experience working with an ERP or inventory management system.
• Experience supporting a multi‑country or international supply chain.
• Experience managing ocean and air freight.
• Experience identifying and implementing process improvements within a logistics operation.

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field is preferred.
• Equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
