J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc. is hiring a Manager Trainee to learn freight planning and driver management. The role focuses on safe, on-time service, load planning, and collaboration with drivers, customers, and internal teams.

This entry-level program covers DOT compliance, payroll-related tasks, and performance reporting while developing skills in fleet operations and cost control. Training includes hands-on experience across shifts, including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma/GED with up to 4 years of education, experience, and training, and/or pursuing a degree; may travel to locations.
• Bachelor's degree with ability to work across multiple shifts including nights/weekends.
• Must be willing to travel to account, customer, & company event locations when applicable.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain professional relationships with drivers and carriers to ensure seamless carrier setup and productivity.
• Fill in for absent personnel and support special projects to optimize fleet operations and profitability.
• Train drivers and staff on internal systems and customer interfaces.
• Maximize fleet efficiency and profitability, measure KPIs, and present customer reporting and financial analysis on-site.
• Manage inventory, assets, customer pools, and driver assignments to balance equipment.
• Perform payroll, budget management, driver coaching, and invoicing tasks as needed.
• Oversee yard operations, maintenance scheduling, and safety-related repairs for equipment.
• Coordinate with drivers, customers, and staff to resolve service issues and routing challenges.
• Maintain safety culture with daily messages, trainings, and compliance with DOT and company policies.
• Plan loads, routes, and monitor freight movement to meet on-time delivery and customer requirements.
