Job summary

Zentis Plymouth facility in Indiana seeks a Logistics Manager to lead daily warehouse and logistics operations, including shipping, receiving, inventory control and pre-production staging. You will supervise staff, drive process improvements and ensure food safety compliance while coordinating with Customer Service, Production and QA.

Ideal candidates have a BA/BS in a relevant field and 3–5 years in warehouse management, plus 1–3 years in food manufacturing and 1–2 years inbound/outbound

Zentis is Europe's number one fruit processing company and one of the leading brand manufacturers of jams, sweets and custard-based dessert. The Company's North American operations are located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Plymouth, Indiana, where we produce fruit and dairy preparations for a variety of customers including yogurt, ice cream and bakery manufacturers.

The Logistics Manager is responsible for all inbound and outbound operations. This position is responsible for leading the daily activities of the warehouse and logistics operations at the Zentis (Plymouth, IN) facility including Shipping/Receiving, Inventory Control/Management, pre-production staging of raw materials and finish goods. Also included are communications with Customer Service, arrangement/coordination of transportation, Warehouse layout design, maintenance of quality standards, inventory rotation, supervision of warehouse employees, and staging of raw materials and finish goods.

The incumbent will provide support for both internal and external customers. In addition, this position is responsible for process improvement initiatives. The person will be responsible for leading the staffing, employee development, systems platform enhancement, process improvement, cross-functional departmental collaboration, and resource acquisition activities necessary to achieve the assigned plant’s current and future customer service, safety, quality, productivity, employee development, and cost reduction objectives. They will also provide sufficient resources and support to grow an increasingly positive food safety culture.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Manage daily functions and processes for the warehouse, material handling, shipping, and receiving operations. Includes safety, material flow, inventory control, warehouse management. Coordinate receiving/shipping functions, to ensure that the highest level of customer service is delivered on a daily basis.
  • Facilitate production by pre-staging/pre-weighing raw materials prior to initiation of batch/campaign.
  • Ship Materials: Ensure on-time/in full delivery to customer as promised in conjunction with customer service, quality and transportation carriers.
  • Partner with Customer Service, Production, Quality and other internal functions to ensure internal/external customer expectations are met/exceeded.
  • Partner with Purchasing/Supply Chain department to assist in inventory control/management
  • Provide effective leadership for supervisory staff. This includes coaching, counseling, training, and performance review.
  • Receiving Materials: Ensure timely and accurate receipt and put away of incoming materials/packaging/supplies/etc. and proper entry into SAP system.
  • Coordinate operations to maintain proper and organized storage of all materials – both physical and electronic. Included, but not limited to, raw materials, WIP, finished goods and packaging. Conduct cycle counts/physical inventories. Audit and reconcile inventories as needed. Focus on Continuous Improvement. Consistently look for ways to improve current processes, procedures and methodologies, in an effort to reduce cost and increase efficiencies. Ensure warehouse cleanliness; maintain high housekeeping standards. Ensure execution of our employee safety and food safety processes and regulations while joining the HACCP team.
Formal Education Required:
  • BA or BS degree in relevant field.
Specific Experience and Key Knowledge Requirements:
  • 3-5 years warehouse management required with a focus on inventory control and management.
  • 1-3 years’ experience in food manufacturing
  • 1-2 years’ experience in inbound/outbound logistics
  • SAP or other sophisticated ERP system experience
