A growing building materials manufacturer is launching a brand new greenfield facility and needs a hands‑on Logistics Manager to build the site's logistics organization from the ground up. This is a warehouse/manufacturing logistics role (not a transportation management seat), with full accountability for material flow, inventory integrity, and the safe, on‑time movement of product in and out of the plant. The role carries P&L responsibility and oversight of third‑party carriers on both inbound and outbound freight.

  • Implement new systems, tools, and technology to support a scaling facility.
  • Manage third‑party carriers bringing materials in and shipping finished goods out.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with production, customer service, quality, maintenance, sales, and operations to support logistics plans and continuous improvement.
  • Hire, train, coach, and develop supervisors; build accountability throughout the logistics organization.
  • Develop site performance reports, identify issues, and resolve concerns.
Organization & Growth
  • Initially leads 2 Logistics Supervisors, growing to roughly 4 salaried supervisors plus an hourly workforce.
  • Expected site headcount of ~50 within the first year.
  • Responsible for building and developing the logistics organization as the facility ramps.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of supply chain, logistics, warehouse, or transportation experience.
  • 3+ years of leadership/supervisory experience; experience leading teams of 20-30+ preferred.

  • Direct experience handling raw materials in a production setting.
  • Strong problem solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • LEAN / continuous improvement experience.
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and G‑Suite.
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, or related field preferred but not required (equivalent experience considered).
  • Greenfield / start‑up facility experience.
What Success Looks Like
  • Comfortable operating in a fast‑paced startup environment, balancing strategic leadership with hands‑on execution.
  • Strong accountability and team development mindset; calm under pressure during seasonal demand and peak shipping periods.
  • Delivers on core KPIs: truck throughput and dock efficiency, on‑time shipments, safe loading/unloading, inventory/material accuracy, and overall site safety.
Travel

Significant travel during onboarding and training - an estimated 1-2 weeks per month for the first 2-3 months to collaborate with a counterpart site (out of state). Travel tapers after ramp‑up.
