Job summary

CarMax is seeking a Manager, Logistics Freight Payment to lead the financial backbone of CarMax Logistics, overseeing a $200M+ spend and coordinating a team of analysts. You will drive accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in freight payment processes, while partnering with Accounting, Sourcing, and operations to influence carrier decisions and deliver continuous improvement.

Based in the Richmond, VA home office, this role will be onsite four days a week, reporting to the Logistics finance

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field.
• 5+ years of business experience with a strong focus on financial operations.
• 1+ year of project management experience, demonstrating organizational and leadership skills.
• Strong communication and results focus skills, with a proven track record of leading teams, influencing stakeholders, driving accountability, and delivering continuous process improvements in a fast-paced environment
• Demonstrated ability to analyze data, solve complex problems, prioritize competing demands, and make sound decisions that driver operational, service and financial results.

Responsibilities

• Oversee freight payment and reconciliation processes to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely execution across all logistics operations.
• Supports Logistics processes and initiatives for CarMax’s Fleet toll and fuel programs, driving efficiency, compliance, and cost control.
• Manage third-party freight payment vendor relationships, including strategic projects, and payment programming.
• Collaborate with internal Accounting and Strategic Sourcing teams to maintain accrual accuracy and influence carrier sourcing decisions.
• Develop and implement performance reporting tools to monitor freight payment KPIs and drive continuous improvement.
• Lead initiatives to optimize payment processes, including AutoPay enrollment and reducing manual invoice handling.
• Resolve escalations promptly while enforcing practices that limit financial exposure and maintain operational continuity.
• Coach and develop team members, creating a culture of accountability, efficiency, and professional growth.
