Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. in Missouri is seeking a Manager Trainee to learn the management of a small driver count and implement non-traditional shifts, including nights and weekends, while ensuring safe and timely freight movement and top-notch customer service.

Training focuses on DOT compliance, driver and company policy adherence, and coordinating with drivers, customers, and internal teams to plan, route, monitor, and deliver freight efficiently. Strong supervisory potential is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field.
• Willingness to travel to account, customer, and company event locations.
• Ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends.
• Willingness to relocate regionally depending on account assignment.

Responsibilities

• Learn to build and maintain positive professional relationships with drivers and safe outside carriers.
• Fill in for absent personnel and support special projects to optimize fleet operations.
• Learn to train drivers and staff on internal and third-party systems.
• Assist in monitoring KPIs, prepare customer specific reporting and financial analysis.
• Gain knowledge of inventory, assets, and driver assignment to balance equipment.
• Perform payroll, budget management, and invoicing tasks; resolve pay issues.
• Manage yard operations and coordinate with maintenance for preventive services.
• Collaborate with drivers, customers and staff to resolve service issues and routing.
• Support DOT compliance and safety policy enforcement.
• Plan loads, routes, and monitor freight to meet on-time delivery requirements.
