Job Summary:
We are looking for a detail-oriented and strategic Logistics Executive to oversee and manage the daily operations of our vehicle fleet. This role ensures optimal performance, cost-effectiveness, regulatory compliance, and safety across all fleet-related activities. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in improving operational efficiency, reducing costs, and ensuring a smooth flow of transport and delivery functions.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Oversight
- Oversee daily fleet operations and set short-term goals aligned with broader transport and logistics strategies.
- Develop and implement fleet policies, processes, and performance metrics.
Optimization
- Maximize the utilization of vehicles and drivers to improve efficiency.
- Minimize operating costs through route optimization, fuel efficiency, and maintenance scheduling.
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure all vehicles and drivers comply with transportation laws, licenses, permits, and safety standards.
- Maintain updated records for inspections, emissions, insurance, and regulatory documentation.
Driver Management
- Assist in the recruitment, onboarding, and training of drivers.
- Monitor driver performance, address behavioral issues, and implement safety programs.
Technology Integration
- Leverage fleet management software, GPS tracking, telematics, and other tools to enhance operational transparency and decision-making.
Cost Control
- Monitor fleet expenses including fuel, insurance, maintenance, and repairs.
- Identify areas for cost reduction and process improvement.
Safety & Risk Management
- Establish and enforce safety procedures to reduce accident risk and liability.
- Conduct regular safety audits and incident reviews.
Key Areas of Focus:
- Vehicle Acquisition & Disposal: Plan fleet expansion or downsizing based on business needs and lifecycle cost analysis.
- Maintenance & Repair: Implement scheduled maintenance programs to reduce breakdowns and vehicle downtime.
- Fuel Management: Monitor fuel usage, detect inefficiencies, and develop fuel-saving initiatives.
- Route Optimization: Use route planning tools to reduce delivery times, fuel use, and operational costs.
- Data Analysis: Use analytics and reporting tools to identify trends, track KPIs, and support strategic decisions.
- Driver Performance: Regularly evaluate and improve driver efficiency, behavior, and safety compliance.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelors degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Transport Management, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in fleet logistics, transport operations, or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of transportation regulations and vehicle maintenance standards.
- Proficiency in fleet management software, GPS tracking systems, and MS Office Suite.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and leadership skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to handle high-pressure situations and make informed decisions.
