Job summary

The Summit Bechtel Reserve seeks staff to drive and support a 5-day whitewater trek program. You will transport gear, staff, and guests by vehicle and trailer, load/unload supplies, and maintain equipment while upholding safety standards.

Housing and shift details are provided in staff guidelines. Requirements include 18+ years old, a valid license with Summit permit eligibility, and experience with back-up trailer operations.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must have a valid driver's license and ability to obtain Summit Driving permit.
• Experience driving and backing loaded flatbed trailers.
• Preferred: Commercial Driver License (CDL).
• Willing to become a registered Scouting America member (background screening).
• Comfortable using Microsoft Teams for daily work communication.

Responsibilities

• Drive and support 5-day whitewater treks with vehicle/trailer.
• Load and unload gear, staff, and guests.
• Assist in cleaning, packing, and inventory of trek gear.
• Maintain trek equipment in good working condition.
• Ensure safety and quality standards at all times.
• Back up the truck/trailer up to 200+ feet with turns.

Job description

Position Overview

Driving support for the 5-day white water river trek program by loading, transporting, unloading, cleaning, and stocking of gear, staff, and guests with a vehicle and/or trailer.

Key Responsibilities

• Support 5-day whitewater treks with vehicle and trailer driving gear, staff, and guests to and from river
• Load and unload gear, staff, and guests to and from river
• Assist in cleaning, packing, and inventory of gear needed for trek
• Maintain trek equipment in an organized and good working condition
• Ensure safety and quality standards remain at the highest levels
• Backup truck trailer in reverse over 200 feet with turns.
• Model the Scout Oath and Law in daily interactions
• Maintain a clean, organized, inspected, neat, and safe work area
• Perform additional duties assigned by SBR leadership
• Abide by policies and procedures outlined in the SBR staff handbook

Qualifications

• Minimum age: 18+
• Required: Valid driver's license and ability to obtain Summit Driving permit.

Physical & Practical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, hike, and drive and up to 8 hours daily and ability to lift/move up to 70 pounds
• Complete the Annual Health and Medical Record, including height/weight guidelines
• Housing: 10'x12' platform tent in Staff Camp | Uniform: Summit Staff Uniform | Work Hours: 45 - 55
