What You'll Do
Transportation & Carrier Management
You will coordinate and manage transportation activities to ensure products are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. Responsibilities include:
- Managing truckload, LTL, and rail shipments across multiple manufacturing locations.
- Supporting freight bid processes and evaluating carrier performance.
- Identifying and recommending new carrier partners based on service quality and capabilities.
- Maintaining transportation contracts, carrier rates, and documentation.
- Coordinating freight quotes and shipment scheduling.
- Monitoring shipments and proactively resolving transportation issues.
- Communicating with carriers regarding pickups, deliveries, and shipment status updates.
- Assisting with equipment moves, cross-border logistics, and customs-related activities.
- Building and maintaining strong carrier relationships.
Transportation Analytics & Continuous Improvement
You'll use data and analysis to help drive smarter transportation decisions and improve performance.
- Analyzing freight spend and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Investigating billing discrepancies and freight-related charges.
- Tracking transportation KPIs and maintaining performance dashboards.
- Monitoring carrier service metrics, including on-time pickups and deliveries.
- Partnering with TMS providers to improve processes and maximize system effectiveness.
- Supporting transportation budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Assisting with claims management, damage investigations, and corrective action plans.
Systems & Administrative Support
You'll help ensure transportation systems and records remain accurate, organized, and compliant by:
- Maintaining carrier records, contracts, insurance certificates, and compliance documentation.
- Supporting carrier onboarding and setup activities.
- Updating transportation rates and data within ERP and transportation systems.
- Assisting with reporting and analytics initiatives.
- Participating in process improvement projects and special initiatives.
- Providing backup support for critical supply chain operations when needed.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years of experience in truckload and LTL transportation logistics.
- Strong understanding of transportation coordination and carrier management.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within manufacturing, industrial, mining, or distribution environments.
- Experience working with Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
- Familiarity with ERP platforms such as Microsoft Dynamics AX or similar systems.
- Understanding of transportation costs, accounting principles, and financial reporting concepts.
- Experience analyzing transportation performance metrics and operational data.
