As a Logistics Assistant, the individual must be able to work in a fast-paced environment while prioritizing competing demands under the direction of the SLS. The Logistics Assistant role is intended to provide development opportunities for individuals to advance into Logistics Supervisor roles and manage their own project assignments.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Become proficient in the use of various tools used in the receiving and materials management process at the project site.
- Assist in the receipt of project materials under the direction of the SLS, in accordance with overall plans and in coordination with cross-functional site teams.
- Assist in generating and processing Field and Purchase Requisitions, Material Receiving Reports, Site Storage Location Maps, material inventory lists, delivery exception reports (OSDs & NCRs), and material warranties.
- Coordinate and schedule material deliveries and guide Receiving and Offload crews on procedures for material receipt inspection, inventory, storage, staging, and processing shipping documentation. Also, assist Field Engineers and Project Administrative Assistants with shipping documentation processing and filing.
- Monitor Equipment Status Reports and collaborate with the Project Team and Procurement to address schedule deviations of critical path items, contributing accurate material status updates to the project plan.
- Generate and distribute additional material reports and documentation as requested by Project Team members to support supplier invoice payments.
- Assist in completing documentation related to incorporated materials, such as receiving logs, mill certificates, test reports, cut sheets, etc., for eventual project turnover.
- Ensure a safe work environment by adhering to company safety policies and federal/state safety regulations.
- Verify deliveries are correct and execute shipment transactions to ensure 100% on-time shipment and order fill rate for assigned locations.
- Support the site management team in promoting company values and culture while representing the company professionally.
- Assist in analyzing and interpreting field information, often visiting the site to collect data, and familiarize with best practices and work methods.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to give presentations to groups of 10 or more.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to prioritize and organize tasks effectively.
- Previous logistics experience, with understanding of planning, material management, and tracking systems; knowledge of procurement is a plus.
- Problem-solving skills and a desire to work in a field-based construction environment.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- 0–1 year of project logistics experience preferred.
- High School diploma required; advanced studies in Logistics, Supply Chain, Construction Management, or relevant trades are highly desirable.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and an acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR).
Target base pay: $22–$25/hr
