Job summary

Georgia-Pacific in Albany, GA is seeking a Log Line Technician to support lumber production. You will follow safety and environmental guidelines and assist with start-up, shutdown, and daily checks on the Log Line.

The role offers rotating day/night shifts (two weeks each) with potential overtime and weekend work. Starting pay is $24 per hour, with opportunities to increase compensation based on skills and performance, and a focus on keeping the mill running smoothly.

Qualifications

• Basic mechanical knowledge.
• Two years of sawmill experience.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies and procedures.
• Own preventative maintenance for the Log Line.
• Input Work Requests into MOE.
• Ensure Log Line checks are completed daily.
• Retool Debarker arms as needed.
• Monitor issues hindering full potential and provide feedback.
• Coordinate with Quality Control to maximize optimizers.
• Maintain housekeeping for the Log Line and MCC rooms.
• Develop value-added improvements on our current processes.
• Own AKMS trainer responsibilities to help execute trainings with new operators.
• Assist operators with machine start-up, shutdown, down events and cleanup.
• Assist maintenance during unplanned events.
• Coordinate with leadership and Log Line operator daily on all canceled devices.
• Attend focus meetings and provide feedback to leadership.
