Job summary

Georgia-Pacific LLC is seeking a Log Line Technician for our Lumber facility in Albany, GA. The role includes operating and maintaining the Log Line, following safety guidelines, and supporting maintenance and quality control processes.

The position offers shift-based hours (days/nights) with potential overtime, holidays, and weekend work. Starting pay is $24/hr depending on experience, with opportunities to increase based on skills and contribution to overall performance.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to plant safety guidelines and participate in the safety program.
• Own preventative maintenance for the Log Line.
• Input Work Requests into MOE.
• Ensure Log Line checks are completed daily.
• Retool Debarker arms as needed.
• Monitor issues hindering full potential and provide feedback.
• Coordinate with Quality Control to maximize optimizers.
• Maintain housekeeping for the Log Line and MCC rooms.
• Develop value-added improvements to current processes.
• Own AKMS trainer responsibilities for operator trainings.
• Assist operators with start-up, shutdown, and clean-up.

Georgia-Pacific is now hiring Log Line Technician to join our Lumber facility in Albany, GA!

Salary:

• Starting pay ranges from $24/hr. depending on experience.
• You will have the ability to increase your compensation based on skills and contribution to the overall performance of the mill.
• 6am-6pm / 6pm-6am
• This will be a rotating shift (two weeks on days and two weeks on nights)
• Only candidates who are flexible and available to work any shift will be considered. This will include overtime, holidays, and weekends as needed.

What You Will Do

• Adhering to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies and procedures and actively participating in the safety program
• Own preventative maintenance process for the Log Line.
• Input Work Requests into MOE
• Ensure Log Line Checks are completed daily
• Retool Debarker arms as needed.
• Monitor and provide feedback on issues hindering full potential.
• Coordinate with Quality Control to ensure optimizers are maximized at full potential
• Maintain a high level of housekeeping for the Log Line and MCC rooms.
• Develop value added improvements on our current processes.
• Own AKMS trainer responsibilities to help execute trainings with new operators.
• Assisting operators with machine start-up, shutdown, down events and clean up
• Assist maintenance during unplanned events
• Coordinate with leadership and Log Line operator daily on all canceled devices.
• Attend focus meetings and provide feedback to leadership.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

• Basic mechanical knowledge
• Two (2) years of sawmill experience

What Will Put You Ahead

• One (1) year of Log Line operator experience.
• Experience changing out Debarker components and Merch saws
