Job summary

Linville Golf Club is seeking a Lodging Operations Manager to lead the lodge, rental homes, reservations, housekeeping, and guest services. Overview

Linville Golf Club (“Club”) is a historic, seasonal, private mountain club and residential community located in North Carolina’s High Country. Founded in 1892 and recognized as the oldest golf club in North Carolina, the Club has built a lasting tradition of gracious hospitality, exceptional service, and multi-generational member experiences. Centered on its celebrated Donald Ross golf course and the historic Eseeola Lodge, Linville Golf Club offers members and guests a distinctive private-club environment that blends refined lodging, dining, recreation, and natural mountain beauty.

The Club’s amenities include golf, lodging, dining, swimming, fishing, wellness, racquets, social events, family programming, and access to the surrounding mountain setting. These offerings create a welcoming, full-service club experience for members, families, and sponsored guests throughout the operating season.

The Lodging Operations Manager plays an important role in supporting this tradition by ensuring that accommodations, guest services, housekeeping, reservations, and rental home operations reflect the quality, warmth, and attention to detail expected of Linville Golf Club.

This role ensures an exceptional member and guest experience while maintaining operational excellence, financial stewardship, and consistent adherence to the Club’s hospitality standards. Working collaboratively with all departments, this position helps deliver a seamless and memorable lodging experience for members, families, and guests. This is a full-time, year-round, salaried exempt position in the Lodging Operations department.

Essential Responsibilities
Member & Guest Experience
  • Promote a culture of hospitality that reflects the Club's mission, values, and service standards.
  • Ensure every lodging guest receives a welcoming, personalized, and consistently exceptional experience.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to member and guest concerns, resolving issues with discretion and sound judgment.
  • Establish and maintain service standards that exceed member expectations.
Lodging Operations
  • Direct the daily operation of the Club's lodge and house rental program.
  • Oversee all reservations, guest arrivals and departures, room assignments, and accommodation scheduling.
  • Ensure all guest rooms, rental homes, and public lodging areas consistently meet the Club's standards for cleanliness, presentation, and comfort.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for all lodging functions.
  • Monitor occupancy trends and optimize accommodation utilization throughout the season.
House Rental Program
  • Manage the Club's portfolio of seasonal rental homes.
  • Coordinate reservation schedules, guest communications, inspections, housekeeping, and turnover procedures.
  • Regularly communicate with rental homeowners about scheduling changes.
  • Ensure each property is fully prepared prior to guest arrival and inspected following departure.
  • Maintain inventories, furnishings, equipment, and guest amenities.
  • Coordinate maintenance and capital improvement needs with the Facilities Department.
Department Leadership
  • Recruit, hire, train, schedule, supervise, coach, and evaluate lodging department personnel.
  • Budget, schedule, and approve lodging department time.
  • Foster a positive, respectful, and service-oriented team culture.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings and performance evaluations.
  • Develop seasonal staffing plans to meet occupancy demands.
  • Ensure compliance with Club policies and applicable employment practices.
Financial Management
  • Prepare and administer the annual operating budget for the lodging department.
  • Monitor departmental revenues, labor costs, and operating expenses.
  • Recommend operational improvements that enhance efficiency while maintaining exceptional service.
  • Participate in long-range planning for lodging facilities and accommodations.
Property & Facilities Coordination
  • Conduct routine inspections of guest rooms, rental homes, and common areas.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs with the Facilities Department.
  • Recommend capital improvements and replacement schedules for furnishings, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Ensure all accommodations present the quality expected of a premier private club.
Interdepartmental Collaboration
  • Work closely with Membership, Food & Beverage, Golf, Racquets, Wellness, and Administration to coordinate lodging needs for tournaments, social events, weddings, member functions, and visiting guests.
  • Coordinate with Real Estate Department to ensure compliance with North Carolina Real Estate Commission Guidelines.
  • Communicate occupancy forecasts and special accommodation requirements to department leaders.
  • Support Club-wide initiatives that enhance the overall member experience.
Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable health, safety, fire, and lodging regulations.
  • Maintain emergency response procedures for lodging facilities.
  • Protect member and guest privacy while safeguarding confidential information.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency with property management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
Physical Requirements & Work Schedule
  • Ability to move throughout the Club's lodging facilities and rental properties.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to work extended hours, weekends, evenings, and holidays during the Club's operating season (May to October).
  • Maintain an on-site presence during the off-season, from October through May, to support lodging operations and property oversight.
