Job summary

CPKC in Saint Paul, MN is seeking a Laborer to move, fuel, clean, test and perform basic repairs on locomotives in a fast paced, safety-oriented setting. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined and enjoys working outdoors.

The role requires a high school diploma, valid driver’s license, and the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays in all weather conditions with a strong safety focus. CDL is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Valid driver’s license is required; CDL preferred.
• Minimum 1 year working on or around heavy equipment.
• Able to work nights, weekends and holidays in all weather.
• Read and understand safety instructions in English.
• Commitment to safety and adherence to rules.

Responsibilities

• Fuel, sand locomotives and resupply cab amenities during servicing.
• Inspect and repair locomotives, fuel tanks, and cab equipment; evaluate parts for reuse.
• Service locomotive cabs and clean cab walls, toilets, windows and floors.
• Test cab electrical devices, set cab brakes, test safety devices, complete crew forms.
• Clean shop floors and keep the shop area orderly.
