Job summary

Minnesota Commercial Railway is seeking a full-time Track Maintainer based in St. Paul, MN. The role requires operating, inspecting, and repairing tracks, crossings, and related equipment while following safety rules.

CDL preferred and the ability to lift up to 75 lbs is essential. Responsibilities include using rail tools, performing inspections, and assisting in track surfacing, alignment, and gauging. The position demands endurance for variable weather and potential overtime, with on-site

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Valid state-issued driver license; CDL preferred.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
• Full-time availability (40 hrs/week) with possible overtime.
• Ability to lift/carry up to 75 lbs without assistance.
• Comfort with work in loud/noisy environments and around heavy machinery.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair tracks, turnouts, crossovers, and related equipment.
• Inspect track components, joints, and crossings and document findings.
• Replace ties, turnouts, and track fastenings as needed.
• Operate rail tools and support equipment (rail saw, rail drill, spiking equipment).
• Assist with track surfacing, alignment, and gauging.
• Support in emergencies and safety meetings.
• Operate hi-rail vehicles and other maintenance vehicles.
