Job summary

Wabtec is seeking a Locomotive Maintenance Materials/Technical Advisor (MTA) hybrid role supporting the customer (BNSF). You will help maintain locomotives by advising, researching, and assisting customer mechanics, while coordinating with Wabtec experts.

This role involves 24/7 coverage in locomotive repair shop environments, managing material flow, and providing technical mentorship to teams across shifts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• MS Office proficiency required.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities.
• Analytical and quality-improvement skills.
• Ability to interface across all organizational levels.
• Must maintain reliable attendance.
• Willingness to complete Wabtec Level 1 Technical Training within 18 months.

Responsibilities

• Provide clear technical guidance to railroad employees and management, including troubleshooting and maintenance status.
• Coordinate and instruct on locomotive maintenance programs and procedures.
• Mentor teams on troubleshooting, material handling, safety procedures, and contract requirements.
• Communicate effectively with employees, customer management, and Wabtec management on work to be performed and equipment status.
• Partner with teams to drive continuous improvement in safe work practices while ensuring productivity and quality.
• Ensure compliance with governmental regulations, OSHA, and site rules.
• Assist in production planning for labor, material, and logistics.
• Work with various software systems to run material and labor plans.
