Job summary

Wabtec is seeking a Locomotive Maintenance Technical Advisor to support our customer’s locomotive fleet on site at customer facilities. You will advise on repairs, mentor teams, and coordinate materials and programs in a 24/7 shop environment.

You will build strong relationships with railroad personnel, demonstrate strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, and help drive safety, quality, and continuous improvement while progressing through Level 1 technical training.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (or 2-year degree with 2+ years of work experience, or HS diploma with 4+ years of Operations or Military leadership experience)
• Willingness to work various shifts, various days, and work in shop environment
• A high degree of mechanical and/or electrical aptitude and problem-solving ability
• Proficiency in MS office applications
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
• Validated analytical and quality improvement ability
• Ability to interface at all levels of the organization, both internally and externally
• The ability to maintain reliable and predictable attendance
• A high level of dependability, a great attitude, and an ability to work well with a team towards achieving a common goal
• Successful initial completion of eRail Safe eligibility, which is required in order to work on customer property, along with continued eligibility throughout your employment and/or need to work onsite at a railroad customer facility that requires eRail Safe verification.

Responsibilities

• Advise railroad employees and management on repairs rather than performing actual locomotive repairs
• Provide technical mentorship to teams, troubleshooting, material handling, tooling, and safety procedures
• Coordinate and provide instruction on programs and procedures related to locomotive maintenance and modifications
• Provide clear communication on work to be performed, equipment status, efficiency, and process improvements
• Promote safe work practices while supervising productivity, quality assurance, and adherence to contract requirements
• Establish production plans for labor, material, and logistics with management
• Work with various software systems to run material, labor plans, and other systemic requirements
