Job summary

Wabtec Corporation in Florida is seeking an entry-level Mechanical Engineer to support the LOCOTROL product family. You will work with experienced engineers on mechanical hardware development, design for manufacturability, and lifecycle support across the product lifecycle.

The role emphasizes mentorship, hands-on CAD work, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable locomotive control solutions while expanding your design and analysis skills in a global engineering

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology.
• Recent graduate or up to 2 years of engineering experience (internships/co-ops acceptable).
• Experience with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks/Creo/Inventor) through projects or work.
• Basic understanding of drawings, GD&T, and mechanical design principles.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes (sheet metal, machining, molding, additive).
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical hardware solutions for LOCOTROL products using DFX guidelines.
• Assist design, testing, and lifecycle maintenance of automated locomotive systems.
• Create and maintain 3D CAD models, drawings, and product documentation.
• Focus on manufacturability, producibility, reliability, and cost effectiveness.
• Troubleshoot field issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
• Manage BOMs and engineering documentation in PLM systems.
• Support product introduction to manufacturing with validation testing.
• Assist with engineering change management and obsolescence activities.
• Collaborate with Electrical, Systems, Manufacturing, Quality, and Program teams.
