Job summary

Wabtec Corporation seeks a Lead Engineer to design locomotive cab structures and components, collaborating with global engineering, systems, and manufacturing teams to meet safety, performance, cost, and quality goals. You will drive design reviews, verification plans, and project execution while mentoring others and ensuring compliant practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Experience in mechanical design and light fabrication.
• Understanding of material strength, fatigue analysis, joints, and structural integrity requirements.
• Familiarity with CAD/PLM tools such as Siemens NX (UG) and Teamcenter.
• Knowledge of DFMA, DFM, and PLM practices.
• Understanding of ASME Y14.5, GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, and AWS specifications.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and technical leadership; FEA knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop locomotive cab structures and components using established design principles.
• Develop design concepts, evaluate alternatives, identify risks, and mitigate.
• Lead designs through cross-functional design reviews.
• Prepare and maintain engineering drawings and change requests.
• Collaborate with systems engineering, drafting, manufacturing, and suppliers.
• Provide shop, supplier, and field support to resolve issues.
• Manage multiple projects meeting scope, quality, and schedule.
• Develop verification and validation plans for cab systems.
• Perform design risk assessments and implement corrective actions.
• Review and approve designs and detailed drawings.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives.
