Job summary

The Syracuse Housing Authority is seeking an experienced locksmith to install, maintain and repair locks, keys and electronic access systems in its facilities. You will read blueprints or CAD drawings, estimate materials, and ensure security of the premises by maintaining accurate records and updating key systems.

Responsibilities include repairing jammed locks, replacing components, and supporting the security infrastructure across multiple sites while following safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of locksmith work experience.
• Ability to read blueprints and CAD drawings for lock installations and changes.
• Experience with electronic access systems and card readers.
• Knowledge of lock cylinders, keys, and master key systems.
• Ability to estimate labor and material needs for locksmith projects.
• Ability to supervise and train others in locksmith trade as required.

Responsibilities

• Repairs locks that are jammed or inoperative.
• Remove locking mechanisms from doors, gates, cabinets, etc.
• Open locks and replace defective parts or debris-causing malfunctions.
• Manufacture springs, tumblers or levers to fit specific locks.
• Install and maintain lock and key systems across facilities.
• Ensure security by maintaining extensive key/lock records and inventories.
