Job summary

Commonwealth of Virginia agency seeks a Lock Mechanic at Red Onion State Prison to maintain locking systems and ensure facility security. You will repair and perform preventive maintenance on locks and related devices, and assist with building maintenance as needed.

The role requires knowledge of lock repair, blueprint interpretation, and proficiency with Microsoft Office. Vocational training or apprenticeship completion is preferred, with supervisory experience advantageous.

Qualifications

• Considerable knowledge in the repair and maintenance of locks and locking systems.
• Skilled in the use of a variety of hand and power tools.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints related to locking systems.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise the work of others.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and mechanical drawings.
• Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office Programs and preventative maintenance programs.
• Completion from vocational/technical school, completion of apprenticeship and/or sufficient on-the-job training (OJT) in trade activities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Maintain locking systems to ensure facility security.

• Complete required paperwork and assist with maintenance in other areas as needed.
