Job summary

Applied Professional Services, Inc. (APS) is hiring a Locating Technician I in Renton, WA. As part of the SUE field tech team, you will operate locating equipment, collect data, and support surveying tasks in outdoor environments.

The role requires 2+ years of relevant experience, a valid driver's license, and willingness to travel up to 50% with occasional night/weekend shifts. CDL not required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in utility locating or as a SUE Field Tech.
• Ability to read and interpret utility prints and plans.
• Pass pre-employment physical and drug screen (U.S. only).
• Must lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in all climates.

Responsibilities

• Operate SUE locating equipment and designate utilities.
• Complete daily accurate billing forms and field sketches.
• Support survey and data collection tasks for crew.
• Travel up to 50% and work nights/weekends as required.
• Perform routine maintenance of equipment and vehicles.

Locating Technician I responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Be skilled in the operation of SUE utilitylocatinganddesignatingequipment, including pipe andcable locators
• Complete detailedaccuratedaily billing forms, forms and field sketches or RM Locating®
• Use of tools and equipment to conduct utility investigations
• Drive commercial motor vehicles, however a CDL license is notrequired
• Perform safety set-up and maintenance of traffic operations under direct supervision of seniorfield staff
• Assistwith survey and data collection tasks, supporting overall crew activities
• Perform daily routine maintenance of equipment
• Perform daily basic vehicle maintenance

Locating Technician I Qualifications:

• High School Diploma/GED
• 2+ years of experience in the utilitylocatingindustry or as a SUE Field Tech
• Ability to read and interpret utility company prints and design plans
• Valid driver's license withgood drivingrecord
• Ability to pass a pre-employment physicaland drug screen(U.S. only)
• Ability to obtain a DOT medical card for CMV operation (U.S. only)
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. and perform physical movements necessary tooperateheavy toolsand equipment, to include bending,kneelingand squatting
• Ability to work outdoors in all climates
• Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time, by company vehicle or commercial airline, up to2 weekcontinuous stay.
• Work nights and weekends whenrequiredto do so
• Must have a good oral and written communication skills and attention to detail
• OSHA Safety certifications are a plus
