Job summary

Oak Harbor Freight Lines is seeking a Local Delivery Driver with a Class A CDL to perform local pick-up and delivery duties in the Lewiston, ID area. The role involves safe operation of equipment, verifying shipment counts, and providing excellent customer service during multiple daily stops.

Candidates should have at least 1 year of verifiable driving experience, a valid DOT medical card, and a clean driving record.

Qualifications

• Minimum 21 years old.
• Valid Class A CDL.
• At least 1 year of verifiable commercial driving experience with similar equipment.
• Valid DOT Medical Certification.
• Clean driving record with no DUI/reckless driving/drug or alcohol issue in last 3 years.
• Basic English reading/writing/verbal skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment and move freight safely using forklift, pallet jack, hand truck, etc.
• Record delivery counts and conditions to minimize cargo claims.
• Make multiple customer deliveries while delivering high levels of service within Oak Harbor network.
• Maintain documentation: delivery receipts, bills of lading, manifests, and hazardous materials handling as required.
• Ensure accuracy of paperwork and compliance with loading/unloading instructions.
• Communicate effectively with customers, co-workers, and dispatch.
• Travel to nearby terminals as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for operating equipment and moving freight in a safe and efficient manner using forklift, pallet jack, hand truck, etc.
• Responsible for noting and recording exception in count or condition of shipments to minimize cargo claims.
• Responsible for multiple deliveries to customers while providing high levels of customer service within the Oak Harbor network.
• Maintain required information throughout the use of electronic devices.
• Management of paperwork: i.e., check of accuracy and completion of delivery receipts, bills of lading, trailer manifests, counting freight, accuracy of hazardous material shipments, special loading, and handling instructions.
• Responsible decision-making skills to maximize efficiency while maintaining customer expectations.
• Ability to meet the Company's reliability standard for employees; to include dependability.
• Ability to chain as needed and work in inclement weather preferred.
• Availability to work various shifts as needed to accommodate business levels.
• Ability to travel to nearby terminals.
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• At least 21 years old
• Class A CDL.
• At least one year of verifiable commercial driving experience with similar equipment.
• Valid DOT Medical Certification.
• Must have a clean driving record. No DUI, reckless driving, or positive drug/alcohol screen in the last 3 years.
• Ability to effectively communicate with customers, co-workers, and dispatch/managers.
• Basic English proficiency in reading, writing and verbal communication.

Preferred but not required:

• Hazmat, Tanker, and Double/Triples endorsements, we require within 45 days of hiring
• Doubles/triples & chaining experience is preferred but not required.
• Medical, dental, vision – You choose which plan suits you and our family.

• Employee and Family pays up to 4% of gross income.
• 401K match of 100% on the first 5% contribution.
• Accrue 80 hours of PTO within the first 11 months.
