Schimberg Co. is hiring a Local Truck Driver / CDL Driver in Cedar Rapids. You will operate a range of vehicles, complete multi-stop deliveries of piping supplies within a 150-mile radius, and maintain accurate CDL logs with an ELD where required.

We offer daytime, Monday–Friday schedules with home every night, a safe team environment, and competitive hourly pay starting at $26.00 per hour. Pre-employment background and drug screen are required.

Qualifications

• Must possess an active Class A CDL with an air-brake endorsement.
• Clean driving history with no at-fault accidents or more than three traffic violations in the past 5 years.
• Physically able to lift 50 lbs (up to 100 lbs occasionally), climb ladders, and stand.
• DOT medical certificate required before hire for every CDL driver.
• Prior commercial driver experience preferred; forklift operation experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Safe vehicle operation of pickup trucks, straight trucks, and flatbed semis as a local driver.
• Timely multi-stop deliveries of piping supplies to customer sites.
• Maintain CDL log of mileage, tickets, and locations; use ELD as required.
• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections; report vehicle needs to management.
• Load and unload flatbed trailers and pickup trucks; assist customers with material handling.
• Support warehouse duties: pull orders, stock management, and prepare materials for shipment.

Local Truck Driver / CDL Driver Responsibilities

• Safe Vehicle Operation: Operate a variety of commercial vehicles, including pickup trucks, straight trucks, and flatbed semis, as a professional local truck driver.
• Timely Deliveries: Complete efficient, multi-stop deliveries of piping supplies directly to customer sites.
• Logistics & Compliance: Maintain an accurate CDL log of deliveries, including mileage, ticket numbers, and locations, utilizing an Electronic Log Device (ELD) when required.
• Vehicle Inspections: Perform pre- and post-trip safety inspections, carry out light maintenance, and report any vehicle needs to management.
• Material Handling: Load and unload flatbed trailers and pickup trucks, assisting customers with material handling to provide excellent service.
• Warehouse Support: Actively assist with general warehouse duties as a team-player driver, including pulling orders, stock management, and preparing materials for shipment.

Local Truck Driver / CDL Driver Requirements

• License: Must possess an active Class A CDL with an air-brake endorsement.
• Safe Driving Record: A clean driving history with no at-fault accidents or more than three traffic violations in the past 5 years.
• Physical Fitness: This is a physically demanding role; you must be able to regularly lift 50 lbs (up to 100 lbs occasionally), climb ladders, and work on your feet.
• Medical Certification: A current DOT medical certificate (or the ability to obtain one prior to hire) is required for every CDL driver.
• Experience: Previous commercial driver experience is highly preferred; forklift operation experience is a plus.
