Job summary

SouthState Bank is seeking an experienced Loan Assistant to support the loan pipeline, document collection, and closing coordination. You will work with lenders, attorneys, and clients to ensure timely processing and accurate book‑keeping of loan records.

Role requires strong organization, meticulous attention to detail, and a commitment to compliance while delivering excellent service to customers and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Education: high school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's in banking/finance asset.
• Experience: prior office/loan processing exposure preferred.

Responsibilities

• Track and manage loan pipeline, maturities, uninsured reports, and past‑dues reports with timely processing.
• Prioritize tasks to meet processing goals and customer expectations.
• Provide back‑up support to other loan assistants for PTO and absences.
• Ensure compliance with state/federal lending regs and bank policies.
• Collect and organize borrower documents (income verification, credit reports, IDs).
• Input data into loan processing systems accurately.
• Order title, UCC searches, appraisals, flood certifications as needed.
• Coordinate closings with lenders, attorneys, and clients.
• Initiate disbursement of closing funds and loan proceeds via checks/wires.
• Review closed/funded loans for document completion and booking accuracy.
• Maintain tickler system for post‑closing documents and status reporting.
• Maintain clear communication with lenders and stakeholders throughout the loan process.
• Provide exceptional client service and resolve information requests.
• Demonstrate culture by delivering prompt, efficient service and building relationships.
• Adhere to confidentiality, security, and compliance requirements.
