Role Description

This is a full‑time, hybrid Loan Officer role based in San Diego, CA, with flexibility to work from home for part of the week. The Loan Officer will originate and structure residential and investor‑focused real estate loans, including DSCR, fix and flip, and other creative financing products. Daily responsibilities include consulting with prospective borrowers, assessing their goals, gathering and reviewing financial documentation, and guiding clients through the application and approval process. The role involves coordinating with underwriting, processing, and closing teams to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely loan decisions. The Loan Officer will also build and maintain relationships with investors, real estate agents, and referral partners, while educating clients on financing options, investment strategies, and Key Real Estate Capital programs.

Qualifications
  • Experience in loan origination and work as a Loan Officer, with a strong track record of originating residential and/or investment property loans.
  • Solid foundation in finance and real estate investing concepts, including cash flow analysis, leverage, and portfolio growth strategies.
  • Knowledge of underwriting principles and documentation requirements, with the ability to evaluate borrower profiles for various loan products.
  • Strong customer service and relationship‑building skills, with the ability to communicate complex financing options clearly and professionally.
  • Familiarity with loan origination systems (LOS), CRM tools, and basic office software (e.g., Excel, Word, email platforms).
  • Detail‑oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple files and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Comfortable working in a hybrid setting from San Diego, CA, with the ability to collaborate both in‑office and remotely.
  • Relevant licenses or registrations (such as NMLS) preferred; prior experience in mortgage, hard money, or private lending is a plus.
