Job summary

Allan Myers is seeking a skilled equipment operator for our heavy civil construction projects in the Mid-Atlantic region. This non-exempt role requires operating multiple types of machinery, following safety procedures, and maintaining equipment.

You will coordinate with the field manager, review plans, and perform routine maintenance. The right candidate has at least two years of experience, a valid driver's license, and a high school diploma or GED.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of equipment operating experience.
• Valid driver’s license.
• High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent).
• Related work experience required.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy construction equipment safely (backhoes, pavers, dozers, scrapers, pans, graders).
• Discuss plans for the day’s work with field manager and determine safe, accurate, on-time methods.
• Adjust hand levers and pedals to operate attachments such as blades, buckets, scrapers, and swing booms.
• Perform equipment maintenance such as cleaning, greasing, and oiling the machines.
• Develop feel for different levers and attachments to improve grading and slope cutting skills.
• Operate with safety as the priority and ensure others stay clear of the machine while coordinating with teammates.
• Make judgments on the most efficient operation of equipment and attachments.
• Comply with Allan Myers policies including equipment safety standards.
