Job summary

Allan Myers, Inc. is seeking a non-exempt Equipment Operator to operate heavy civil construction equipment such as backhoes, pavers, dozers, scrapers, and graders on our Virginia projects.

You will be responsible for safe operation, routine maintenance, and adherence to safety standards on busy job sites. The role requires at least 2 years of equipment operating experience, a valid driver’s license, and a high school diploma or GED.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years equipment operating experience.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• High School Diploma or GED is a plus.
• Related work experience required.

Responsibilities

• Discuss plans for the day’s work with field manager, review blueprints if necessary and determine the best method to complete tasks safely, accurately, and on time.
• Adjust hand levers and depress pedals to operate equipment and control attachments such as blades, buckets, scrapers, and swing booms.
• Perform equipment maintenance duties such as cleaning, greasing and oiling machines.
• Utilize experience to develop feel for levers/attachments and skills like fine grading and cutting slopes.
• Operate with emphasis on safety for all workers and promote teamwork among operators at the site.
• Make judgments on the most efficient operations of equipment and attachments.
• Comply with Allan Myers policies including equipment safety standards.
