Job description

Job Summary:The Heavy Equipment Operator at the Mixing Plant is responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting heavy machinery and equipment to support the production of high-quality brick materials. The role requires attention to safety, efficiency, and adherence to production schedules.

Work Schedule:

  • Full-time position, Monday to Friday 7AM to 5PM, timing could change depending on production.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Equipment Operation:
  • Operate heavy machinery such as front-end loaders, bulldozers, conveyors, and other specialized equipment used in raw material handling and mixing processes.
  • Transport raw materials (clay, shale, sand, etc.) to and from designated areas within the plant.
  • Load and unload materials into hoppers, mixers, and other processing units.
  1. Material Handling:
  • Monitor the supply of raw materials to ensure consistent feed to the mixing plant.
  • Ensure proper mixing ratios of raw materials in accordance with production specifications.
  1. Maintenance and Inspections:
  • Conduct daily pre- and post-operation equipment inspections to identify and report any issues.
  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment, such as lubrication and part replacement.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance team for major repairs or servicing.
  1. Safety Compliance:
  • Adhere to all workplace safety standards and regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Participate in safety drills and training sessions.
  • Immediately report any safety hazards or equipment malfunctions to the supervisor.
  1. Production Support:
  • Work closely with mixing plant operators to ensure a steady flow of materials for continuous production.
  • Assist in troubleshooting equipment and process issues that impact production.
  1. Record-Keeping:
  • Maintain accurate logs of equipment usage, maintenance activities, and material movements.
  • Document any incidents or deviations from standard operating procedures.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in heavy equipment operation is a plus.
  • Proven experience operating heavy equipment, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
  • Knowledge of brick manufacturing processes and material properties is advantageous.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and basic understanding of equipment maintenance.
  • Ability to read and interpret operational manuals, production schedules, and safety guidelines.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to work in outdoor and industrial environments under varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Stand for long periods, and work in varied environments (heat, dust, noise)
  • Comfortable working in high-temperature environments.

Working Conditions:

  • Exposure to dust, noise, and vibrations typical of a mixing plant environment.
  • Shift work may be required, including nights, weekends, and holidays, depending on production needs.
