Job summary

Meijer in New York state is seeking a dispatcher to coordinate driver assignments, monitor dock operations, and ensure on-time deliveries for store routes and backhauls. You will work with drivers to balance loads while adhering to service constraints and regulatory requirements.

The role requires 2 years of logistics experience and dispatching know-how, with proficiency in PeopleNet and Excel. Availability for 2nd or 3rd shift, weekends, and holidays is expected.

Qualifications

• 2 years of experience in Logistics.
• Previous dispatching experience.
• Knowledge of FMCSA regulations and HazMat.
• Familiarity with geography of the region.
• Ability to re-align driver schedules for high priority loads.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
• Proficient with PC software including PeopleNet, Excel, Word.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Available to work 2nd or 3rd shift, and on weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Dispatch drivers within service limitations to ensure on-time delivery.
• Monitor building lineups.
• Track trailer movements.
• Ensure on-time performance for store deliveries and backhauls.
• Monitor yard status.
• Ensure compliance with DOT regulations including HazMat, hours of service, drug and alcohol program, driver physical and license issues, vehicle maintenance and driver vehicle inspection reports.
• Assist with accident investigations.
• Interpret and follow union contract.
