Job summary

Builders FirstSource in the Town of Chester, NY, is seeking a Load Builder to perform routine loading and unloading of materials in the yard or at customer job sites, assembling load packages for delivery. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, 1–2 years of related experience, and forklift certification.

You will operate forklifts, hand trucks and other tools, follow work orders, and uphold safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 1-2 years experience.
• Forklift certification required.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload materials onto pallets or trucks and secure with straps.
• Build loads based on order and vehicle capacity to ensure balance and safety.
• Read work orders or follow instructions to determine materials moved.
• Move materials to/from storage using carts, dolly, forklift or other devices.
• Open containers and prepare loads using hand tools.
• Attach labels for correct identification of items.
• Lift heavy objects by hand or with power hoist and keep area clean.
• May train or guide less experienced Load Builders.
• Follow safety procedures and attend safety meetings.
