Job summary

Builders FirstSource is seeking a Forklift Loader/Unloader to join our yard team in Chester, VA. You will load and unload materials, build safe, balanced loads, and prepare shipments for delivery to customer sites.

The role requires forklift certification, good reading skills for work orders, and adherence to safety procedures. Employees will handle pallets, use hand tools, and assist in training less experienced teammates.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 1–2 years’ related experience.
• Forklift certification is required.
• Ability to read and write to handle work orders and labeling.
• Good manual dexterity and ability to use simple hand tools.
• Knowledge of safety procedures for forklift driving and materials handling.
• Ability to count items and verify against lists.

Responsibilities

• Loads/unloads materials onto pallets, trucks or customer vehicles and secures with strapping.
• Builds loads considering weight, composition and delivery-vehicle capacity.
• Reads work orders or follows instructions to determine materials to move.
• Transports materials to/from storage using hand truck, electric dolly, forklift.
• Opens containers and attaches identifying tags or labels for correct item identification.
• Lifts heavy objects by hand or with hoist; cleans work area and equipment.
• May train less experienced Load Builders.
• Complies with safety procedures and attends safety meetings.
• Other duties may be assigned.
